Governance Board
The Governance Board is made up of local members, council staff and representatives from each of the forums and the friends group, it is very much in its infancy but it is hoped that the board will lead to transparent decision making about the park, representing the views of the community who use the park for many different purposes.

The Friends of Alexandra Park
The Friends of Alexandra Park was established in 2001 as a group to represent the interests of the diverse communities surrounding the Park and all other users of the Park. The aims of the Group are to promote greater use of the Park as a safe and thriving community space, and to support and encourage the Council in maintaining and improving the facilities, design, management and infrastructure of the Park. The Group has held regular community events including annual Easter Egg Hunt, Make a Wish Day and Teddy Bears’ Picnics, litter picks and bulb planting.

People’s Panel
Alongside the friends group there is also the Alexandra Park ‘People’s Panel’ which is an online network of people interested in the park. There are currently in excess of 300 people on the panel.

Alexandra Park Forums

Wildlife Forum
The Wildlife Forum is an established group of local residents and experts who meet quarterly to look at managing/preserving the natural elements of the park. The group works with council staff to: monitor the implementation of the Biodiversity Master plan as well as identifying different funding streams to establish an angling club and generating interest in the wildlife of the park.

Heritage Forum
The Forum was established by the Alexandra Park Development Officer with interested volunteers in the park, supported by officers from the Library Information and Archive Service. This is supported by the Neighbourhood and Engagement Officer to research into the history of the park and make plans for the future.

Arts & Events
This group is currently being formulated with the support of the Cultural team and the Neighbourhood and Delivery Officer from Manchester City Council. Funding has just been secured for a consultant who will work with the Alexandra Park development
